Guiding Principles

Reynolda is a one-of-a-kind place, intentionally designed to integrate art, learning, and nature. We will connect you to the beauty and complexity of the American story. Reynolda’s historic estate has been preserved as the most distinctive quadrant of Wake Forest University’s Reynolda Campus and is stewarded by a Cultural Landscape Report that guides the use of its historic grounds. The entire estate—the Museum, Gardens, and Village—will continue to evolve together as a unified destination for peaceful contemplation, play, and personal growth.

Reynolda House Museum of American Art is the core of the Reynolda grounds. The Museum is a rare gem among the nation’s cultural institutions, holding and sharing a renowned collection of American art, rich and deep archives, and carefully preserved decorative arts. Reynolda Gardens is the connective tissue and varietal centerpiece of the estate, and Reynolda Village maintains a carefully selected array of boutiques, offices, and restaurants that complement the entire experience.

Reynolda has defined a diverse group of individuals as its core audience, known as “deliberate explorers”, who are invited to escape, learn, and connect with themselves and others.

Reynolda House Mission Statement
Reynolda House preserves and interprets an American country home and a premier collection of American art. Through innovative public programs and exhibitions, the Museum offers a deeper understanding of American culture to diverse audiences.
