Celebrate the Holidays at Reynolda Estate

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (November 19, 2024) — Step back in time this holiday season with a visit to historic Reynolda and explore the tranquil 170-acre setting that comprises Reynolda House Museum of American Art, Reynolda Gardens and Reynolda Village. With festive programs and events planned across the estate, there’s something for everyone to enjoy during the happiest season of all.

Starting this week, the bungalow is now adorned in period décor and Reynolds family memorabilia inspired by the family’s first Christmas in the home in 1917. Holiday experiences at Reynolda include a family-friendly holiday card crafting workshop, community caroling events, an after-hours Christmas celebration and more. Visitors can experience the House decorations with any general Museum admission ticket through December 31. New this year: a special Poinsettia display will be on view in the newly renovated Brown Family Conservatory.

Reynolda Village Annual Holiday Stroll
November 23, 2–6 p.m.
Free

Kick off the holiday season with a stroll through historic Reynolda Village. Enjoy carolers, carriage rides and beautiful decorations throughout the Village. The Reynolda Welcome Center and Brown Family Conservatory are open extended hours until 6 p.m., along with other shops in the Village to get first dibs on their holiday selections. Enjoy delicious fare in the restaurants and keep an eye out for a very special guest! (Hint: he always wears red.) Please note, free carriage rides are available from 3 to 6 p.m.

Family First Workshop: Holiday Cards and Gift Tags
December 1, 2–4 p.m.
Suggested ages K – 6 accompanied by an adult
$15 adult + youth; $12 Member adults + youth (Dual/Family level and above)

Participants will meet in Reynolda studios to ink the leaves of evergreens and create paper prints using a printing press. Children and families will also create and collaged cards and tag to take home.

Caroling Fridays at Reynolda
December 6 and 13
2:30–3:30 p.m.
Included with Museum admission (free categories apply)

Gather in the Reception Hall of the Historic House to share Christmas cheer through song and community. The holiday merriment is open to all. No advanced registration or singing experience required.

An Enchanted Christmas at Reynolda
December 17
5:30–8 p.m.
$25, Free for Members

This after-hours family-friendly event is sure to spark the magic of the season. Self-tour the Historic House decorated in the style of the first Christmas at Reynolda in 1917 while festive songs play on the original Aeolian organ. Enjoy a hot chocolate bar and make holiday cards inspired by vintage cards belonging to the Reynolds family.

Hours and Admission

Reynolda House Museum of American Art, located at 2250 Reynolda Rd., and the Reynolda Welcome Center and the Brown Family Conservatory, located at 100 Reynolda Village Way, are open to visitors Tuesday–Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Admission is charged for the Museum, though several free admission categories apply. Reynolda Gardens is open from dawn to dusk daily, free of charge. Reynolda Village merchants’ hours vary. No ticket is needed to shop at the Reynolda House Museum Store.
