Shape Monoprints

3rd grade and up

Limit: 30 students

Shape monoprints on the printing press. Students ink pre-cut foam shapes and a background to create an abstract composition while learning printmaking process and terminology. Finished works need time to dry at the Museum. We will mount them on a background and arrange with you to pick up the completed works. 

• With 8-20 students, visit time for tour + workshop is 90 minutes
• With 30 students, total visit time is 2 hours

Adaptation

For a small group of older students, this offers an excellent opportunity to practice composition as students can create multiple ghost prints with the same shapes and see how printmaking can be an iterative process (without carving). For a custom workshop, students can also design and cut their own shapes.
