Bungalow Landscape Restoration Through Spring 2027

Project Summary:
Reynolda House Museum of American Art recently broke ground on a landscape restoration project in accordance with plans developed by renowned landscape architect Chip Callaway of Callaway & Associates. This project reinvigorates the garden beds surrounding the historic home and honors the truest form of a traditional bungalow — defined as a house with as little distinction as possible between indoors and outdoors.

Visitor Impact:
During certain phases of the project, areas surrounding the historic bungalow may be closed off to foot traffic. This could include the forecourt garden and some of the paved walkways. The main entrance to the museum remains open and accessible.

Historic House HVAC Restoration – Through August 2026

Project Summary:
Beginning in early 2026, the museum embarked on a major HVAC restoration project, guided by the principles of the Bizot Green Protocol. The HVAC rehabilitation marks the third major infrastructure project across the historic estate in a five-year span, following the replacement of the Ludowci tile roof on Reynolda House Ludowci in 2021 and the complete restoration of the Brown Family Conservatory in 2024. This essential upgrade reflects our continued dedication to both visitor experience and historic preservation.

Visitor Impact:
