Interior Design and Decorative Arts Tour Description
9th – 12th grade
This tour considers Reynolda as an intentionally designed domestic interior and architectural construction. Students will visit key rooms in the 1917 bungalow while attending to the furnishings and room schemes. They will think about materials, design, and style elements.
Location: Reynolda House Museum of American Art
Available: year-round (Museum closed in January)
Accommodates: 8-48 people

$5 + tax per student
Optional art workshops ($8 plus tax per student for tour + workshop)

Learning objectives: Students who experience an Interior Design and Decorative Arts tour will be able to
- Recognize stylistic characteristics in Reynolda’s interiors and begin to familiarize themselves with basic style terminology
- define select architectural and decorative arts terminology
- analyze stylistic and interior design choices for aesthetics and practicality, while also thinking about the choice of materials
- contrast decorative choices made at Reynolda circa 1917 with trends today
